Bus Driver Held Without Bail on DUI Charges

7 News reports that a 59-year-old man from Massachusetts has been arrested and detained without bail on charges of operating a school bus while under the influence. According to the article, the bus was transporting high-school students at the time. The man appeared in court on charges of driving under the influence, where he delivered a plea of not guilty.

Police say that the bus contained 25 members of a high-school cross country team, as well as coaches. The passengers noticed the driver operating the vehicle erratically. According to reports, he was speeding and drove through several red traffic lights. Witnesses say that the driver failed to take the passengers to a restaurant where they instructed him to stop.

Court records indicate that this is the man’s third driving under the influence arrest. According to his lawyer, the last arrest for DUI was more than 25 years ago.
