East Boston man perishes in tragic auto-pedestrian accident

Everyday cars and people must share the road safely as they travel from one location to the next. People walking on sidewalks or on the side of the road must be able to do so without fear of being injured or killed in a car accident.

A devastating auto-pedestrian accident has claimed the life of a 67-year-old East Boston man. The man was struck by a car while walking down the street. The driver of the car remained at the scene of the accident while the victim was transported to an area hospital. Unfortunately, the victim did not survive. The accident remains under police investigation.

Auto-pedestrian accidents can cause serious injuries or even death. In fact, 5,000 people die annually from being hit by a car. It is therefore of the utmost importance that automobile drivers be aware of pedestrians sharing the road. Drivers who speed through crosswalks or fail to use their blinkers while turning could cause a pedestrian accident, because they are not driving in a predictable manner. While pedestrians must take care not to dart out into traffic or otherwise behave in an unsafe manner, they also need to be able to anticipate how the cars in their vicinity will be traveling.

If someone is injured in an auto-pedestrian accident, they may seek compensation for their injuries through a negligence lawsuit. Damages recovered may include past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages. Such recovery may go a long way to helping a victim of an auto-pedestrian accident recoup some of the financial costs associated with their injuries.

Pedestrian suffers serious injuries in Massachusetts accident

When a vehicle collides with a pedestrian, the victim may receive life-threatening injuries. The person may need immediate medical attention and may also need rehabilitation. The victim may suffer from head injuries, broken bones and may possibly be permanently disabled. The person may require constant medical attention, which can be very costly.

This appears to be the case in a recent accident in a suburb of Boston, where a 67-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car on Salem Road near the Wilmington town line. After hitting the 67-year-old man, the driver drove 50 yards and stopped. The accident victim allegedly suffered serious injuries, including an apparent head injury. A medflight was called to transfer the person to Boston Medical Center.

A state accident reconstruction team was called to investigate the accident and the cause is not known yet.

When a person is injured in a car accident – whether it is a passenger in a car, motorcyclist or a pedestrian – the person may be able to claim compensation from a negligent driver. A successful lawsuit may be able to obtain medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages.

Of course, an investigation – like the one noted in the story above – can help to determine liability and answer many questions regarding the cause of the incident. However, a police report may be only part of the equation; an experienced attorney may also complete an independent analysis of the situation to develop additional evidence, if necessary, to support a case.

The results of a car accident can be devastating, but one’s financial future need not suffer the same results as the victim’s physical health. A personal injury lawsuit can help ensure an accident victim has the financial resources available to recover and return to as normal a life as possible.

Pedestrian killed in motor vehicle accident outside hospital

Large commercial trucks are perfect for transporting large volumes of goods and raw materials. Because of their size, however, they present serious hazards to other vehicles and pedestrians on the road.

In Boston recently, a motor vehicle accident claimed the life of a pedestrian right outside the rear entrance of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in the Brighton neighborhood. According to police, an 18-wheel semitrailer hit and killed the man. Officials have not released his name and identity. It is not clear whether he worked at the hospital, was visiting someone, or if he was just passing by.

The truck involved belongs to a company that supplies linens to the hospital. Boston police have said no charges have been filed against the truck driver, and the accident is still under investigation.

In an accident involving a truck, a victim may suffer serious injuries or death as in this incident. Because of that, truck drivers should take their responsibilities extremely seriously when operating their vehicles. Concentrating on the road is critical for ensuring the safety of other motorists and pedestrians. Drivers should avoid distractions, driving while intoxicated and using cell phones when operating their vehicles.

In addition, truck drivers should always be aware of their surroundings and whether they are near crowded places such as hospitals, parks and schools. When in busy areas, truck operators should maintain vigilance and keep their eyes out for pedestrians crossing streets or walking along roads or streets.

In the event of a truck accident, a driver can be liable for a victim’s injuries if negligence is deemed a contributing factor. If so, then victims may be entitled to compensation. An injured party may be able to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and emotional distress by filing a personal injury lawsuit against the truck driver. In addition, in cases in which a family has lost a member to a truck accident, a wrongful death claim may be filed to recover damages.
