About Matthew Marcus

Matthew has extensive experience assisting individuals and families with estate planning, elder law, guardianship, and long-term planning matters. He previously served on the board of directors of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys for eight years, from 1999 to 2006, and served as co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee.

Matthew has also served as the lead attorney with BOC Life Solutions, an estate and financial planning company owned by the Bank of Canton. He has served as a Hearing Officer for the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, the agency responsible for attorney discipline and professional oversight.

He co-chaired the 1999 New England Elder Law Symposium and has served as faculty for MCLE programs, Suffolk University Law School’s Elder Law Institute, and the New England Elder Law Symposium. He has served as an expert witness in Massachusetts Superior Court and has written extensively on estate planning, guardianships, and planning for families with disabled children for Estate Planning magazine, ALI/ABA’s Practical Lawyer, MCLE, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, Massachusetts Family Law Journal, Life and Health Advisor magazine, and ABA newsletters.

Matthew has coordinated a monthly self-advocacy group for adults with developmental disabilities in the Boston area. He has served on the Board of Directors for United Cerebral Palsy of Metro Boston and was named Citizen Advocate of the Year by The Arc of Massachusetts.
